The Musayquirah Petroglyphs, often referred to by travelers as Graffiti Rocks, are an exceptional archaeological site located about 110–140 km west of Riyadh.

This open-air museum features thousands of carvings on an isolated desert hill (inselberg) that provide a window into the ancient civilizations of the Arabian Peninsula

Diverse Imagery: The rocks are covered with mixed petroglyphs of hunters, warriors, and various animals, including camels, ibexes, lions, and even an impressive family of ostriches.

Climate Evidence: Most notably, the site contains rare carvings of aurochs (wild cattle) and water buffalo, proving that this now-arid region once enjoyed a much more humid, green climate.

Historical Timeline: Experts have identified four main periods of art at the site: the Late Neolithic (after 3000 BC), Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Islamic Period.

Inscriptions: Alongside the drawings, you can find ancient Thamudic script, as well as later Arabic and even modern graffiti.
